Your tour of the Australian Alps will include the following types of accommodation. Specific accommodation on a tour is subject to change and you will be advised at time of booking or prior to departure of any changes.
Important notes: Because of the variety of unique accommodation on your Australian Alps tour, you may not enjoy the same standard of accommodation on every night. The standard basis is twin-share (shared facilities); a limited number of single supplements and double rooms are available and upgrades to own facilities are sometimes available (at additional cost). Please discuss your accommodation preferences with us prior to confirming your reservation.
Avalanche is located 45km south east of Canberra in the magnificent Tinderry Mountains. The main homestead is positioned on a spur with truly spectacular views. The homestead has three guest rooms and a new guest house has four double/twin rooms. Each room has its own bathroom or ensuite. There is a warm lounge area with open fire and tea and coffee making facilities and all guests are welcome to use the huge living area and dining room at the homestead.
Avalanche provides an opportunity for guests to experience the daily operation of a successful cattle and fine wool farming operation. If you wish to relax, a good book and a cool drink in the gazebo overlooking the swimming pool and the mountain panorama is a great way to relax. Dinner at Avalanche Homestead is by candlelight in the main dining room, where fine food is complemented by an informal atmosphere and relaxed conversation.
Adjoining a nature reserve, the property is home to many native animals and birds. You'll see plenty of kangaroos and wombats, raucous cockatoos and galahs are regular visitors, together with spectacular parrots, kookaburras and wedge-tailed eagles.

Originally built as the Commercial Hotel in 1865 and then rebuilt and extended in 1926 as the Gold Reef Hotel, Beaufort House today has been refurbished as a boutique hotel and restaurant retaining its splendid original features and character. The owners have developed a distinctive old world European style. Boasting original European antiques, luxurious themed rooms each with their own unique experience and personal touches, Beaufort House truly is unique heritage hotel accommodation.
The establishment features a boutique hotel with eight luxurious rooms and a deluxe suite, the Altar Wine Bar, the Coat of Arms Kaffeehaus Restaurant and four motel rooms. The restaurant offers well known European dishes such as Rindschnitzel, strudel and "melange" as well as true Vienna Coffee.
With Beaufort House being built in the 1920's, the owners have endeavoured to keep this private hotel in its original state, hence the private shared facilities. With three separate bathrooms for eight rooms, many guests have commented on how beautifully appointed they are and how their privacy is assured. Of course, if you desire your own private facilities, you can upgrade at additional cost to the Vienna Suite or transfer to an ensuite motel room in a separate adjoining section of the establishment.
