Nundle

The Peel Inn

A friendly drinking hole since 1860, this hotel has been in the same family for four generations since John Schofield won the pub in a card game. The largely unchanged exterior retains the frontier charm of the gold rush days, with decorative iron work, a Wunderlich tin-lined balcony and deep verandas. It’s a quintessential country pub experience with damask bed linen, antique wash stands, cane Bentwood chairs, timber ceilings and shutters, pressed tin walls and vintage wallpapers. Fine meals featuring local produce are served in the elegant dining room or on the grapevine covered deck, courtyard or garden. Your hosts: Robert and Margaret Schofield,  Nathan & Rebecca Schofield and Drew Schofield. More information >

Nymboida

Motel-style accommodation caters for single travellers, couples, friends and families in en-suite rooms and groups in shared rooms. The Hotel/Restaurant features the century-old Wine Bar and Parlour Room, with many old photographs and memorabilia. The original hand sawn cedar and red mahogany beams, parallel walls and open log fires retain the historical atmosphere of a time when Cobb & Co stage coaches, bullock teams, timber cutters, graziers and other pioneers stopped here on the woolpack road from Armidale to Grafton. Woodenbong

Dairy Flat

Dairy Flat is a dairy farm situated on the headwaters of the Richmond River. The property is in a valley formed by the McPherson Range, with Mt. Lindesay and Glennies Chair, both volcanic cores, forming the north/east boundaries of the property. The area was first settled by timber cutters whose prize was the massive stands of red cedar in the area. Today, there are dairy and beef properties and beyond them State Forests and National Parks. Dairy Flat has on its N/E boundary the wilderness areas of the Mt. Lindesay section of the "Border Ranges National Park" and "State Forests" on its other boundaries.

Dairy Flat has four houses providing accommodation on the property. The main house is the five-bedroom homestead, which has two ensuites, a farmhouse kitchen, elegant dining room, spacious verandahs and a log fire in the lounge room. The Red House is nestled under Mt Lindsay, overlooking paddocks where the cattle graze beside the creek. It has three bedrooms, share bathroom, a pot belly stove in the large kitchen and verandahs to take in the view. There is also the two-bedroom Green House and the one-bedroom Blue Cottage. The property also includes a tennis court and saltwater pool.

As a working dairy farm, there is milking twice a day as well as feeding sessions for chooks, lambs, kids and calves, great views of the surrounding national parks and state forests and a wealth of bird watching opportunities.  More information >
