Paperbark Tours specialises in small groups (maximum 12), travelling in an air-conditioned 4WD coach, staying in unique accommodation, with a daily program of activities that allows you to get up close with nature, learn about Australia’s culture and history, and meet the local characters.

Paperbark Tours is operated by people with a passion for the places you’ll visit and a commitment to the quality of your tour experience.

We take you off the highway to less travelled places.

Our tours are not wild adventures, but nor are they passive experiences. All you really need is curiosity, a moderate level of fitness, and a desire to explore and find out more about this amazing country.

 

 

Going Greener

Paperbark Tours seeks to achieve sustainable practices in a number of ways to contribute to environmental responsibility.

 

Lower consumption and less waste

  • vehicle conversion to reduce emissions and fuel consumption


  • food purchasing and storage policies
  • buy fresh and local wherever possible
  • 12v power generated by the vehicle for on-board refrigeration


  • discourage the purchase of individual bottled water
  • avoid the use of excessive packaging and disposable items


  • dispose of waste appropriately with the maximum opportunity for recycling
  • in national parks leave nothing behind and take out all waste

 

Carbon offsets and carbon neutrality

It is estimated that each of our customers would be responsible for about 0.07 tonnes of CO2 per day - or 0.4 to 1.0 tonne for a typical tour.

That would take 3-6 trees in a permanent plantation to achieve carbon neutrality, at a cost of between $9 and $26.

You could take the initiative and purchase your carbon credits from a reputable trader.

Try www.cleanerclimate.com, who estimate your offsets would cost about $1.75 per person per day of touring.

Our ultimate aim, however, is to identify opportunities for our customers to contribute directly to land care and environmental initiatives within our tour areas at the same time as achieving their own carbon offsets.
